Coming out of Santiago, Chile, RED I is the former host of Chilevision television program "Extra Jovenes", Via Exis television program "Vibracion Reggae" and Tiempo Radio program "Reggae Sessions". As founding member of the band Nyabinghi, RED I brought reggae music and culture to his native Chile in the early 1990's.
Returning to the U.S. to complete his debut album, RED I teamed with internationally renowned bass player Amlak Tafari, formerly of Pato Banton and the Reggae Revolution, and Toho Saunders, acclaimed producer and bassist to a host of international recording artists. The result is an electric, dub-oriented album that crosses language and cultural barriers with its bilingual call for "Unity". Preparing to launch his debut album, titled UNIDAD, RED I has appeared with Yellow Wall Dub and Vince Black, formerly of Black Uhuru, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and at North America's largest reggae festival, Reggae on the River, where he made a 2002 surprise guest appearance alongside Venezuelan reggae artist Blanquito and his band King Chango. The message of love, peace and justice ring loud in the ears of fans who embrace UNIDAD's title track and the newly released singles "Chiqui Chiqui Boom Boom" and "Hola" featuring Amlak Tafari. "Who feels it knows it. |
